Tiger nuts are a root vegetable (not a nut!), traditionally grown in West Africa, Spain and parts of Asia. They get the name ‘tiger nuts’ because they look like a small round nut with stripes that resemble the stripes of a tiger.

Our tiger nut milk is naturally soy, dairy, nut & gluten free. Our contract manufacturer (where the milk gets bottled) and ingredient suppliers on occasion produce allergen-containing products. Our contract manufacturer makes only one product at a time. So following an allergen-containing product, our contract manufacturer will deep clean the line to remove potential allergen residue. They will then conduct allergen swab testing on the line, as well as final product testing to verify the effectiveness of the clean. We all have
strict allergen management policies and are certified to a very high standard with regular audits.

Madame Tiger's tiger nuts are grown across West Africa, including a female farming collective in Burkina Faso, West Africa. To our knowledge, tiger nuts are not grown commercially in Australia, who knows this might change in the future... The plant exists in Australia now but is considered a wild plant.

We use TetraPak packaging, the recyclable logo on the side of the pack recommends that you recycle the carton. It is a requirement from TetraPak to print this logo on the carton. Whether it is recyclable or not is dependent on your individual council as some councils will recycle TetraPak whilst others won't. We would recommend checking out your local council's website for confirmation.

Tetra are improving their recycling and more and more curbside recycling is actually recycling Tetra. Tetra have built a big recycling plant in Melbourne and Sydney. We keep encouraging Tetra to keep improving (but we are pretty small fry).

Sorry whilst we would have loved to help you out, we don't sell whole tiger nuts sorry! We purchase ours unwashed and the process of washing them for commercial sale isn't viable for us at the moment as we have such a small team. We ethically source our tiger nuts from farming collectives in West Africa in container loads; our suppliers don't sell smaller amounts for personal consumption sorry.

No, we don't sell milk directly from our factory. There are forklifts driving around, trucks pulling in to load and we don't have a full time customer service/shop front. Please visit one of our wonderful stockists and buy some milk from them, or order online and get delivered to your door via Australia Post.

Yes, we use filtered and UV purified water in our milk.

We don't currently have any plans to make an unsweetened version of our tiger nut milk sorry. When formulating our recipe, we tried lots of alternative sweetener's e.g monk fruit, dates, maple syrup, stevia etc. but none of them were quite right so we chose to add a small amount of organic demerara sugar (1% in the Barista & 1.5% in the Original). We will potentially create a sugar free version down the track, but for now we are going to stick to the two varieties of milk that we have available, the Barista and Original.

Our tiger nut milk is kosher and halal certified.

The shelf life of our Tiger Nut Milk is 12 months from the date of production. Our milk is fine to be stored in the cupboard until it is opened. Once opened, please keep it refrigerated and consume it within 5 days.

The Original milk was designed for those looking for a dairy alternative when protein, vitamins and minerals are the priority. We use faba bean for the protein source and we found that in higher amounts in hot drinks, the taste was a bit too bean like. The Barista has a lot less faba bean and is a more balanced, neutral tasting milk. We recommend the Barista as the best tasting all round milk for both hot and cold applications, and we recommend the Original if you want more protein in your milk.

Absolutely, unfortunately it is a little confusing as there are two points that you need to update your address in your customer portal (one under the profile tab and the other under the subscriptions tab). Please make sure both are updated!

Yes you can do this by pressing the button ‘need it now’ under our subscription portal. However, please note that you will also need to decide if you would like to reset the rest of your subscription schedule or keep the schedule as it currently is.
